Music from the film soundtracks: Sun Valley Serenade and Orchestral Wives.
The Glenn Miller Orchestra appeared in two Hollywood movies during 1941-42: Sun Valley Serenade and Orchestra Wives. Their performances recorded for both films (including songs not used in the pictures) are included on this rather brief (64-minute) two-LP set. In addition to featuring fine versions of "In the Mood" and "Sun Valley Jump," the former movie introduced the two hits "I Know Why" and "Chattanooga Choo Choo." Orchestra Wives was most notable for "I've Got a Gal in Kalamazoo" and "American Patrol." The enjoyable music makes for an interesting contrast to Glenn Miller's more familiar studio recordings of these songs.
